CMMB mobile TV goes into operation

China's self-developed mobile TV standard officially began commercial operations Thursday. With CMMB, or China mobile multimedia broadcasting, people can follow the games more easily during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

commercial operations Thursday.

As the main platform for mobile TV in China, CMMB mobile TV services are being provided in 37 cities including Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Wuhan. And, with mobile receiving devices, people can receive three to four broadcast programs as well as seven TV programs on their mobile phones, computers and other gadgets.

Digital products with the receiving devices will be sold from July in China.
